Short-Term Accommodation (STA)

What is Short-Term Accommodation (STA)?

Under the NDIS, STA replaces what used to be called respite for people with a disability.

STA is a support where someone with a disability has a short stay away from home. This allows you to try new things, make friends and learn skills. It also gives your family or carers a short break from their caring role.

Disabled Person in a wheelchair

Our short-term accommodation properties are a home away from home for people with disability.

Short-term accommodation can assist with unexpected emergencies, housing gaps, transitional periods, or allow primary caregivers and people with disabilities the time to temporarily focus on other responsibilities.

A stay with us allows you to meet new people, try new things and recharge. STA means your family or carer can get some time to unwind too. It’s a win-win for you both!

Like respite, our Short-Term Accommodation services can give you the chance to meet new people and try new activities.

This can be seeing the latest movie, going out for a meal, going to the beach, checking out a local attraction, or playing your favourite sport.

No matter your age or tastes – there’s something for you.

Chat to us about the different local options.

All our properties are welcoming and well-equipped for people with disability. Our staff will also make sure your support needs are met. This could include:

  • Nutrition
  • Meal planning and cooking
  • Personal care, such as showering and dressing
  • Taking medication

If you prefer not to stay in one of our properties, we can also provide support in your own home.

Your funding in your NDIS plan will allow for up to 28-days a year in Short Term Accommodation.

So, depending on your package, you could stay overnight, for a weekend, or a holiday. It’s up to you!

This means you will stay with others who are about the same age.

Short-term accommodation is funded under Core Supports – Assistance with Daily Life in your NDIS plan.
If you need longer-term accommodation, other options such as Supported Independent Living are more likely to be included in your plan.

Please note: We bill in line with the NDIS Price Guide, which generally increases annually.
